Wildlife photographer, filmmaker and nature documentarian
Baldovino Midali is a wildlife photographer, filmmaker and nature documentarian who has spent more than forty years telling the story of the wildlife, landscapes and culture of the Bergamo Orobie Alps, especially the Upper Brembana Valley.
Born and raised in Branzi, he developed a deep connection with the mountains and the natural world from an early age.
Alongside his professional work as a baker, he has devoted much of his life to photography and, later, to filmmaking and nature documentaries.
His working method is based on direct knowledge of the territory, the study of animal behaviour and long periods spent in hides, with particular attention to respecting wildlife and the environment.
Over the course of his career he has documented many species of the Orobie Alps, building an important photographic and audiovisual archive devoted to Alpine biodiversity.

Baldovino Midali’s work does not begin with the simple desire to make a beautiful image. At its foundation are observation, study, knowledge of the territory and, above all, respect for animals.
Creating photographs and documentary sequences often requires months, sometimes years, of research and long periods spent in hides.
From analogue photography to modern digital technology, from still photography to nature filmmaking, and from early television appearances to international streaming distribution, the guiding principle has remained the same: to tell the story of nature through authentic images, allowing animals, landscapes and their sounds to become the protagonists.
